About InnerHealth Lab

Anna obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern Utah University. In the past, she has conducted microbiological and nucleic acid research utilizing RT-PCR methods. She currently attends Southern California University of Health Sciences as she pursues her Master of Science degree in Human Genetics and Genomics. She looks forward to applying the skills she gains from graduate school to InnerHealth Laboratory’s research endeavors.

Ashlyn graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She primarily assists with sample testing and reporting results accurately and in a timely manner. When she is not conducting testing, she is usually assisting in patient care or accessioning incoming specimens. Ashlyn is hoping to further her career within InnerHealth Laboratory by continuing to gain as much knowledge as possible in order to provide quality care.

Brett has a strong background in management, with two years of supervisory experience in homeless services. During his time working in homeless services, Brett learned the value of teamwork and leadership to improve his community. He completed his associates degree in business management from Irvine Valley College, and is currently attending University of California, Riverside to study finance and business analytics. Brett assists the lab with preparing and processing COVID-19 samples, along with data entry.

Caleb is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis on Biotechnology. He has experience as a laboratory technician at a veterinarian facility and now his focus is in utilizing his acquired knowledge to begin a career in laboratory sciences. As a Laboratory Accessioner, Caleb processes incoming samples in preparation for testing, and has interest in obtaining experience with PCR assays.

Gail qualified as a Medical Technologist in Virology and Clinical Pathology (Microbiology, Hematology and Chemistry) in South Africa and worked at the second largest hospital in the country for many years after which she accepted a position at a Diagnostic and Research company, becoming their regional manager for 17 years. After relocating to the USA, she took time off to be with her family and later joined InnerHealth Laboratory at the inception of the lab. Gail wears many hats in the lab of which some are procurement and taking care of finances.

Gino has received a Bachelor of Sociology degree from California State University, Fullerton. As a Laboratory Accessioner, he utilizes his organization skills and attention to detail to ensure every sample is reliably prepared for testing. With his knowledge of Sociology, Gino understands the importance of health and safety of the community which makes him an asset to our team.

Kelly has a bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology. As a billing and laboratory assistant, she completes billing tasks for PCR tests and processes cash payments for all testing. Kelly manages walk-in testing for travel and medical purposes. She is an asset to the team within clinical trials and recruitment of participants. Kelly thrives in organization and computer work, and also enjoys helping people in the medical field to ensure the safety of her community.

Kelsey currently oversees a wide range of HR tasks from employee relations and payroll to compliance in standard legal practices for the workplace. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Psychology degree at California State University, Fullerton where she will also obtain a SHRM-CP certification and transfer to University of Southern California for a master’s degree. Between her education and over 5 years of medical experience, Kelsey provides InnerHealth Laboratory with ethical and reliable employee resources.

Marcus is an Army Basic Combat Training honor graduate and former Army Medic with 2 years of supervisory experience in homeless services for the City of Long Beach, aspiring to pursue a career in medicine.  He utilizes his knowledge, experience, and skills learned in community service and leadership to help the laboratory prepare and process all samples for Covid-19 PCR testing.  

Margaret is a cell and molecular biologist, having earned a Ph.D. from Tufts University Medical School. Postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School and Columbia University focused on characterizing stem cells from blood. After moving to the West Coast, she has held positions in both the academic and biotech sectors. Along with extensive R&D experience, Margaret has expertise in FDA governances and Clinical Laboratory oversight.  Besides numerous scientific publications, she has published national and international patents and is a recipient of awards from several foundations and the NIH.

Mary is a Laboratory Technician with InnerHealth Laboratory. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and currently has more than 3 years of experience working passionately in laboratory science. Mary is currently a member of our accessioning team with multi-departmental training. Outside of the sciences, she has interests including reading and the visual arts.

Max has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at California Polytechnic State University and a Master of Science degree from California State University, Northridge. As a Research Laboratory Assistant at InnerHealth Laboratory, he has contributed in developing systems to assist with setting up and validating tests for diseases, including COVID-19. Max is one of our most seasoned laboratory members at InnerHealth Laboratory and is currently working on the expansion of our testing catalog.

Mek earned her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Business administration. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she completed her research thesis by working on growth promoting bacteria in plant biome. She is planning on advancing her studies by pursuing a master’s in Community Medicine. She has acquired new knowledge and is developing her skills while working at InnerHealth Laboratory.

Michael manages our IT department.  He works alongside programmers, website developers, and on our computer systems to provide a seamless workflow and reporting of results. He has ample medical device and laboratory experience, both in clinical and IT roles, which allows him to utilize his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from California State University, Fullerton.

Michelle obtained her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at the University of California, San Diego. As a lab technician at InnerHealth, she has gained the necessary skills of working in a clinical laboratory and broadened her view of different aspects the laboratory industry has to offer.

Mikhail is a graduate from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology. His position as a Laboratory Technician allows him to gain the necessary knowledge to further his career in the clinical laboratory field. In the future, he hopes to utilize his experiences to aid in all aspects of Research and Development.

Richard attended California State University, San Bernardino where he received a Master of Science degree with focus on Biology. He has joined InnerHealth Laboratory because of his specialized knowledge and laboratory experience. Richard will be able to provide ample assistance within our current testing and as our test catalog develops.

Bob attended University of California, Irvine earning a Bachelor of Science degree with focus on Biology. Over his 47 years of achievements in the field, Bob has contributed numerous publications and peer reviewed articles to the scientific community.  With heavy knowledge of immunology, Bob has provided InnerHealth Laboratory with COLA Inspection, licensing assistance, and assay development to ensure the quality of our testing is exemplary. Along with providing Covid-19 testing, he offers training to increase employee knowledge, and develops testing to increase our catalog of testing options.

Sarah received a degree in Health Sciences with emphasis on Interpersonal Communications. Although Laboratory Science has always been of huge interest throughout her medical career, patient care has always been her primary focus. As the Client Relations Lead, she strives to blend the perfect balance of empathy and knowledge into every interaction. As her career progresses, Sarah has aspirations of continuing to develop patient focused medical care for the community.

Vanessa received her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. She has 9 years of phlebotomy experience and is currently pursuing a career as a nurse. At InnerHealth, she leads our accessioning team, conducts travel and rapid testing, and assists with clinical research studies. Between patient care and her medical knowledge, Vanessa brings the best of both skill sets to InnerHealth Laboratory.
